Cycling Adventures
Freewheeling Adventures
are opportunities for you to explore and enjoy the
countryside at your pace, with itineraries that usually
allow you to balance exercise and
activity with leisure and reflection. The trips vary
in difficulty, as is indicated in the notes and profile
for each one. On guided bicycle trips, abundant van
support and local knowledge of your guides help you
enjoy the options at your own pace in an informed way.
Although we often congregate for picnics and other
delights along the way, we rarely travel in a pack.
Your guides will brief
you about each day, and even if the route is longer,
harder, easier, or shorter than you would prefer, they
will try to adapt to your inclinations with suggestions
based on the map and their knowledge of the area. Typically,
you will be on your bike for a few hours each day,
after a relaxed breakfast at your inn. Through the
day, you can expect the attention of your guides (except
on self-guided trips), the benefit of a thoroughly
researched itinerary, and the availability, where feasible,
of the support vehicle for rest or transport. The daily
distances vary usually between 30 and 100 km. (20 and
60 mi.) each day (with exceptions such as the long
day on the Viking Trail).
The groups are
kept small - usually fewer than twelve. We will
try to be creative to enhance your holiday whenever
and wherever possible. Ultimately, we know that
this is your vacation, and that whatever the day's
plan is, you will enjoy it in your own way. If
you choose a self-guided trip, we can move your
luggage for you, and will be just a phone call
away for help or suggestions if you have any difficulties.
